FInal Project- Menu_Stacked Burgers

Final Menu Project (stacked burgers)

I choose to do a front, inside, and back of a menu.

For this front cover i created the bricks in illustrator and put them on the front. I reduced the opacity a little. For the border around the daily specials i went to objects, convert shape and choose inverse rectangle. I increased the line width.

For the inside pages i added the bricks as well and also in illustrator added texture. I added pictures i took at the restaurant and for the font i added a beveled & emboss effect.

For the back pay i added the bricks and around the brick i added a directional feathered effect to give a white glowing look around them. I also added an image i took of inside the restaurant. On the back i put the restaurant story.

Menu-Stacked burgers

I've chosen to recreate Stacked Burgers Menu. The Picture below is the actual menu. The menu that the restaurant already has is also used as a placing mat. I've decided not to make it a placing mat because it is a waste to reprint so why not save money and just have a solid menu where they can re-use.

The image below is the logo for the restaurant.

I already began working on it and i know what i want the first side to look like. This will be the front page, but still not done adding everything on.

The screen shot below will be the inside of the menu. I wanted to have one side for starters and salads and the over for entrees so you don't get lost and confused when looking at the menu. i'm still working on adding more to the menu. I created squares in illustrator and added effects to them so they looked like bricks. Also, I added images i took of the food.

There will be a back and i will have the story of stacked burgers and some images there as well

Newsletter- Florida Aquarium

Here is my newsletter. I did a front cover, Inside spread, and back.

Front. For the front i first created the shape at the top with the pen tool then inserted an image i took. Underneath the image i added a drop shadow and change the x and y coordinated of it to have it just drop in the center. I the added in the logo. For the owl image i used an a feathered gradient and drop shadow

Center.
For page 2 on the left i added the image i took to the background and changed the opacity. For the headline title i use bevel to create the look. I edited the image "swim with the fishes" in photoshop by adding a filter and them inputed it into InDesign and added a border around it. Same for the second image except for that one i added a drop shadow. For the shape at the bottom i use the pen tool to create it and added a satin effect. I used text on a path to have the text curve with the path.

Back
Here i also used pen tool to create the shape and added my image in that i edited in photoshop with filters. i used the drop shadow to create the blue underneath. I used the shape tool to create circles and rectangles and then used eyedropper tool to get some of the colors from the image at the top.

Overall i tried to explore other tools in InDesign. I worked in type and layout mainly to create the effects on my pages

Florida Aquarium Newsletter

Ok where to begin. I've been working on this newsletter project when i get free time. I've been trying to understand InDesign more and learn some of the tools more. When i first started i thought i knew what layout i wanted to go for, which was one that was a mailed out newsletter. Since, i've changed my mind and i'm more close to know which layout i want to go for. i've drawn out a couple layouts on paper to get an idea. below is different layouts i was working with.

First, i'll start with this screen shot below. This was the first i thought of. I wanted to do a front cover i pretty much explained the aquarium and had a summary of all the adventures there. Not sure though of how i want to go about that thought. What i did was used the pen tool to create the shape and took the image i took and added filters in photoshop. Then, resized it.

Here is what i kinda typed up to see how it would look. Not feeling it. I'm still gonna add the logo to the very top and add to see if i like it then, but probably not gonna use this layout. I just think it's way to plain, but then again i'm gonna add to see what it would look like then. Also, for this image i used text warp to have the type curve with the line of the image.

The next two images i have below are screen shots i took from the website of the floor map.
I may crop and add this image somewhere, but not sure of the placement yet.

Here on this image i was trying to see how certain things looked in placement areas. for the page on the left i took an image i took and reduced the opacity so it become the background for that page.

these two pages won't go in this order but for now i just created and made the text boxes so i know what's going where.

Here i added the logo

For this page i created circles and added images to them and added some little designs using the tool to create circles and rectangles

I have wanted i wanted to type to each page. Right now i'm just working on  creating the layout so i can just add the information right in. :)  If something looks to plain i always have to start over with a new page to compare. But now that i have a good idea of what layouts i want i'm gonna finish creating them now and add the info.

The Florida Aquarium

I picked the Florida Aquarium. Here are just a few of the many many pictures i took. I edited the first two, but the rest are the original photo. I'm working on arranging where i want the text and images to go. I'll post updates later.
